Chris Brown
Chris grew up skiing the hills of the Poconos and New England. He progressed from a tiny tot on the toddler trails to ski racing the steep, icy slopes of the East Coast. He eventually moved out west for the big mountains, where he honed terrain park and freestyle skills, hiked countless backcountry booters, relished launching himself off cliffs, and finally discovered ski mountaineering. The Wasatch mountains inspired Chris to choose the University of Utah for college, where he probably spent more time skiing than in class.
With an education in Architecture and a degree in Urban Design, Chris moved to Hawaii, then Washington state, to work a career in his degree after graduation. It was in the glaciated mountains of the Cascades that he decided to leave deskwork behind. That is when he began pursuing an AMGA/IFMGA certification and a professional career in guiding.
Chris holds an AMGA Ski Guide Certification, Alpine Guide Certification, SPI Certification and is to his final exam in the Rock discipline to obtain full IFMGA certification. In the winter, he wears several hats: ski guide, professional and recreational snow science educator, snow safety worker, and operational forecaster throughout several mountain ranges, including the Wasatch, Uintas, Tetons, Cascades, and Alaska. He most enjoys guiding technical ski mountaineering and tackling complex risk management problems.
Chris embraces every day in the mountains while enabling others. As the seasons change, Chris' life shifts to rock and alpine guiding in the Tetons and other locales, where he empowers his clients by leading them up and down many iconic peaks across the west. Chris looks forward to working with his wife to create custom multi-day trips tailored to the guest or family unit around the world.
Chris is currently based in Salt Lake City with his lovely wife, Ashley, where they passionately explore the mountains and deserts around their home state.
